OOTD: Christmas Casual

Hi everyone!

December is my favorite month ever ~ I would be playing Christmas songs all year if it was socially acceptable. There is just such a warm, fuzzy feeling that comes with all the Christmassy jingles ☺

So my very first outfit post shall aptly be inspired by my favourite time of the year! I have been twiddling my thumbs for quite long about what sort of content to deliver, because I’ve just got so many ideas. In the end, I went back to the very first moment I sniffed out an interest in social media.

I had chanced across Nicole Warne’s blog @garypeppergirl and was instantly drawn into her beautiful, whimsical world of vintage outfit posts and dreamy landscapes. She remains to date my number one favorite blogger inspiration, even though she works with all the huge names like Dior, Chanel now, because she started off just riffling through second-hand stores for vintage pieces, not expensive statement fashion pieces – which gives a broke college student like me some hope 😉

Practically all my clothes are bought straight from China manufacturers aka Taobao, which makes them insanely affordable. If you have yet to chance upon this gem, please learn how shop on Taobao to by clicking HERE. It is life-changing. I’ve included links to all my items below, but in case the listings have been taken down, I’ve also included the Chinese descriptions for you to search for similar pieces.

Just a simple crop top with flare skirt ensemble, but the rich tones add a hint of classy warmth, making this the perfect outfit for Christmas lunches 🎀 I am always a fan of crop tops because I have longer torso, so shorter shirts and high-waisted bottoms make my legs look longer yay 🤗 I accessorized with a simple, everyday necklace from Pandora, a snow white crossbody purse and the daintiest little boater hat with faux daisies 🎆

Pardon my bare nails, I have never been one for manicures because I’m far too careless 😜 Focus instead on the lovely quilted texture on my mini sling bag 😍 and the oh-so-gorgeous suede navy material on the skirt! Not your average skater skirt – I especially love the row of buttons right down the front, such a quaint touch.

Sneakers with skirts are so effortlessly casual-chic – reminiscent of the days when Lily Allen popularized Converse kicks with dresses. Flats would have made the whole outfit so typical and matron-y, so I decided to go with this neat little pair of slip-ons. I have these shoes in three colours, that’s how versatile they are 😊
