OOTD: Croissants in Tokyo

Singapore is basically tropical sunshine all year round, but the closest we get to sweater weather is this delectable chilly season right around the end of the year to February if we are lucky. So before we enter the hot, humid months of March, April and May, I figured this cozy little outfit would come in handy to brave those chills – especially during lectures in school. I am not quite sure why but this OOTD just looks like I am ready to be sitting primly in a fusion cafe, eating croissants or baguettes in Tokyo – Nippon words with French-inspired velvet. Or my crazed wanderlust could just be running away with me here…

I am always a huge fan of long-sleeved turtlenecks – so Korean-drama (cue Winter Sonata) classic! But this top puts a trendy spin on things with peekaboo cut-out shoulders. This cropped top is my go-to for a snug, figure-hugging piece that isn’t too revealing – wonderful for those days you just feel like a huge blob of lipids.

This velvety mustard skirt is the exact  same design as the navy skirt from my Christmas OOTD – clearly when you love a clothing piece too much, you HAVE to buy it in a few colours! The maroon version is still in my cart, awaiting judgment day.

I love the neat button-down style and cutesy flare, which lends a lovely hourglass silhouette to my figure. The length is perfect as well, cutting in just above my knees because God knows my chubby legs need an illusion of length but not too short to worry about climbing up the stairs.

Ah my trusty black strappy clogs! It actually came with a thicker ankle strap (which is disastrous for my bulbous ankles) so I fashioned a thinner strap with a few quick snips of my scissors. This revealed a lower cutting and elongates my stubby calves – when it comes to lengthening my legs, i need all the help I can get.

The adorable cloth tote bag that quips MATCHA so calmly really adds a little kawaii to the whole ensemble. It fits my laptop and notes for school quite snugly, while being versatile enough to bring out to town yet not quite as boring as all the rest of the black totes in the crowd. The quality of the bag was surprisingly good too – there’s even a little zipper compartment inside. I am having quite an obsession with totes recently, seeing as this is probably the last year I will need a proper school bag. Better buy a few more in case I grow more arms.
