Review: Sunset Dining Cruise in Langkawi with Adventoro

On our Langkawi trip, Adventoro kindly sponsored us a sunset dinner cruise for 2 pax , and introduced us to their wonderful booking platform!

Adventoro caters to those consumed by wanderlust; those who seek the thrill of new discoveries and brand new experiences; adventurers looking to cross yet another place of their bucket list; and for all who dare cross oceans, traverse continents and brave the unknown in search of something more valuable than money – experience. It is basically a travel curator and booking platform for adventure, nature and cultural tours and activities in Malaysia.

Adventoro offers a mélange of different activities and adventures; ranging from canoeing river rapids, spelunking, paragliding, and even activities such as learning a new language or taking part in educational programs. They understand that finding the right activity can sometimes be a challenge, more so to reserve for one. Therefore, they’re determined to make that a thing of the past. With careful and fastidious planning, they curate quality activities that emphasizes on a fun yet educative experience, niftily displaying them while making online reservations much easier, regardless of where you are. Through this efficient process, they will save you effort and precious time–a rare commodity.

I love the idea behind Adventoro, because you can plan your activities for the trip easily through a single platform, instead of searching for and approaching different vendors all by yourself! Also, we usually face the problem of being solicited by various vendors on the streets at these beach locations, and are usually bewildered by the variety of activities and prices we are offered by these salespeople. Adventoro ensures a hassle free booking process where you can make your decision in the comfort of your own home, and you can research what you actually want to do, instead of succumbing to hard-sell techniques.

You do still have to research the activities yourself to determine if they are suitable for you! We were slightly disappointed by our sunset dinner cruise by Tropical Cruises Langkawi, because it sounded like a classy dining cruise but in actuality, was just a BBQ on a yacht. There were insufficient seats and bowls for the people onboard, everyone was sitting on benches or plastic chairs. It rained just before and the water wasn’t cleared off the decks. So the yacht was crowded with people who didn’t know each other, standing around, eating BBQ food off the plates. The yacht was in a terrible condition as well, with dirty floors, smelly, cramped toilets and no salt water jacuzzi as promised. The free flow alcoholic drinks was just Anchor beer (even though it was advertised as a wide selection of liquor and cocktails).

The food was decent but we did have food poisoning after the yacht , just the 2 of us who went. The only redeeming point was the beautiful sunset over Langkawi’s blue waters. It was a lovely BBQ dinner in the soft glow of the setting sun. I was surprised at the other positive reviews on Tropical Charter. Maybe we expected too much for MYR320 (S$100) but this was my honest opinion! Or maybe we just took a particularly bad boat.

I mentioned all of these to our lovely point-of-contact, Adventoro’s founder Ken and he was super sweet and apologetic about it! He helped us revert our feedback to the suppliers and was very kind to offer us a replacement activity. Looking through the rest of the activities on Adventoro, they all seem really fun and exciting though! From zip line adventures to kayaking through mangrove parks, Adventoro ensures your holiday will be always action-packed and filled with fun memories 🙂 Just based on the convenience provided by Adventoro and the variety of activities, I would definitely book through Adventoro again!
