Don’t Tell Aunty, international chef Jessi Singh’s newest restaurant venture, has officially opened in Surry Hills, serving up his famed ‘unauthentic’ Indian cuisine. Located in the space previously occupied by 4Fourteen, Don’t Tell Aunty offers a range of dining options amidst the familiar fun atmosphere that Singh’s venues are known for. Inspired by the home of a traditional Indian aunty, the 85-seat venue has velvet banquettes, bright pink walls, a self-serve beer fridge and a soundtrack of retro Bollywood music.

Alibi Bar, Ovolo Hotel – Woolloomooloo

In the hip dining precinct of Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, you can savour a unique plant-based high tea at Alibi Bar, Ovolo Hotel. Designed by plant-based dining pioneer and US chef, Matthew Kenney, the high tea offers a sweet and savoury mix of delights such as lemon meringue tart with sable, and mushrooms on toast with wasabi cream. Kenney worked closely with Alibi head chef, Michael Nicolaou to craft the menu with classical and innovative techniques. Kingdom of Rice

Merivale Group has opened a pop-up eatery in Mascot at the Tennyson Hotel called Kingdom of Rice, a collaboration with the team behind innovative restaurant ACME. The casual eatery serves up Cambodian-style street food in a space inspired by the bustle of Phnom Penh markets, with brightly-draped tables laden with melamine plates, red chopsticks and house-made pickles. Mitch Orr, head chef of ACME said, “Phnom Penh is a sensory overload. There’s laughter and noise and people everywhere, the smell of food cooked over charcoal, colours of fresh tropical fruits and an amazing sense of community.” Visit merivale.com

Archi Rose Distilling Co, West Hotel

Sydney’s West Hotel has launched a Summer of Gin collaboration with hip local distillery, Archie Rose Distilling Co. The Summer of Gin menu will be served at Solander Dining and Bar and offers fragrant gin-based cocktails like Lemon Myrtle Gin Fizz and tempting tastes such as Archie Rose-infused chicken wings and ginger-gin chilli prawns. The G&T-inspired menu is available daily and on Friday nights guests can kick back and listen to lush tunes in the open-air jungle atrium.

Diner en Blanc, Marriott International

To align with the French-founded, global outdoor dining event, Dîner en Blanc, Marriott International has created an ivory dining menu across all its Sydney properties until 30 November. Each hotel—Sydney Hyde Park, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park and Pier One —will offer a unique Dîner en Blanc cocktail menu in anticipation of the white-themed pop-up picnic, taking place in various public spaces on 17 November.
