I have always been self conscious about my facial asymmetry and so I was super excited when I heard that Kogao-Seisakusho, Japan’s renowned facial chiropractor and small face salon, will be coming to Singapore for a few days every month! This year is the first time the cosmetic manipulation salon will be in Singapore, beginning in February. I wanted to try it out last month but slots were already fully booked T.T and so I waited till March for the master to be back!
Background Information: Kogao-Seisakusho, Japan’s Famous Small Face Salon
So a little bit more about this famous small face salon: it is wildly popular in Japan and Hong Kong, because tons of celebrities and models are known to visit the salon for their small face correction massage and it is extremely difficult to get a reservation.
Other face correction salons will generally just stimulate facial muscles with a lymphatic massage for a temporary uplift. However, Kogao-Seisakusho ensures the result from your small face massage is semi-permanent as the massage removes distortion and the gaps in between bones by returning your facial bones to the correct position. My Personal Experience at Kogao-Seisakusho Pop-up in Singapore
The salon is doing a pop-up at ShiningSmile along Neil Road so that’s where I headed for my session. I always love visiting owner Aimi’s beautiful salon, a tranquil respite from the city bustle hidden in a quaint shophouse just a short walk away from Outram MRT.
Once I reached, we began my initial consultation with the Japan facial chiropractic master Dr Nagaoka! 🇯🇵 If you are wondering why there is so many people in the room, that’s because the master only speaks Japanese so as he explained his methodology, his staff was translating for him. #soauthenticicanteven
With his colourful little skull model, (which I initially thought was just for decoration lol), Dr Nagaoka showed me how the inside and outside of our human skull is actually like a puzzle made up of different bone parts. This cranial adjustment works by pushing skull bones or cranial plates together and eliminating the gaps and spaces between the facial bones for a better fit and overall improvement to facial architecture. This leads to a smaller and more symmetrical face as your facial bones shift over the course of your life, due to personal lifestyle habits such as chewing on one side of your face, or sleeping on your side which favours your left/ right side over the other.
This might seem daunting but there is no pain at all (very important cos’ my pain threshold is practically negative). I just felt some pressure which was immensely therapeutic, and I even fell asleep 💤 at one point! Best of all, the results from this procedure lasts forever – no need to keep coming back for revision procedures. The effects definitely aren’t as drastic as plastic surgery, but keep in mind this is completely non-invasive and so much more affordable 👍🏻 If you feel like your facial bone structure is too wide/ long/ asymmetrical and that nothing short of shaving your jaw bones will work, @small_face_therapy is definitely worth a shot!
The doctor started by pushing in the bone plate at the top of my skull, and then for me, he pushed in my cheekbones to better align my mid-face line. Aligning the cheekbones is most important for overall symmetry as the eyes rest above the cheekbones. After which, he worked on pushing in my nose bridge so that it is narrower, which will result in making my eyes look more prominent and hence, larger.
Finally, he moved down to the bottom portion of my face, the jawline where the side of the skull connects to the cheekbone and push it in for a sharper, smaller and more balanced jaw silhouette. That’s not all! After the massage, they applied a beauty serum made up of over 50 essential oils on my face and used a beauty machine to stimulate absorption. This serum will actually stimulate fat loss and tighten up the facial muscles, which will further contribute to a tiny face!
The treatment is highly recommended for people with concerns such as:

Everyone has different concerns regarding their face structure, hence Dr Nagaoka will take the time to understand your issues and recommend the best solution for you, as well as let you understand how much change you can expect to see.
② Taking of Pre-Treatment Photo
They will take a photo before and after the treatment to see how your face has changed, just for your own reference and send it to you after the session.
③ Pre-Treatment Facial Measurement
They will take down the exact measurements of your face so that you can see the exact difference in centimetres! My measurements are in the photo below, you can really see the decrease.
④ Facial Chiropractic Treatment
The master will work on relaxing the muscles around the face and neck first slowly before correcting the bones such that there is no pain and that you’ll have a comfortable session.
⑤ Beauty Oil Treatment Process
The beauty machine will use micro currents to stimulate the facial muscles such that the beauty oil will be absorbed into the deeper layers.
⑥ Post-Treatment Facial Measurement

- Q: How many sessions do I have to undergo?
- A: Just a single session is sufficient. Normally, about 70% of overall facial distortion can be corrected in one session. You may choose to follow up with a few maintenance sessions after the first session to close up the remaining 30% of the distortion, depending on your personal needs.
- Q: Which parts of my face can be made smaller or corrected?
- A: Even though the effect varies depending on each part, most parts of the face can be corrected and made smaller. However, bones that are deformed at birth cannot be corrected.
- Q: Can you make my nose bridge higher?
- A: Yes, the bones at the nose bridge and in between the eyebrows can be adjusted to make the nose bridge higher.
- Q: Are there any restrictions or downtime after the session?
- A: Nothing in particular. Also, you can eat and drink immediately after the treatment.
- Q: I have done plastic surgery/ fillers before. Is it possible to undergo this small face massage?
- A: There is no issue in most cases, as long as more than 2 weeks have passed since the procedure. However, we may not be able to proceed with the session in certain situations. We do not recommend for you to undergo the small face massage if you are still experiencing swelling or pain from the surgery. Please be sure to inform us about prior aesthetics procedures during counselling. - Q: I still have my braces on right now. Is it possible to undergo the treatment?
- A: We have done the procedure for patients with orthodontics before, and no problems have occurred till date. However, we do recommend for you to check with your dentist before coming to us.
- Q: Can I undergo treatment during pregnancy?
- A: Yes, there is no issue. However, the procedure requires you to lie on your back for over an hour, please note that we will not be responsible for any pain/injury caused should you insist to carry out the treatment.
- Q: Do I need to remove my make up during the procedure?
- A: There is no need to remove makeup for the procedure, but there is a possibility that your foundation and base make up will get smudged slightly during the treatment.
- Q: How long will the whole procedure take?
- A: It will last for about 2 hours including counseling.
- Q: Can I do the session together with my friend?
- A: Unfortunately due to limited slots we are only able to accommodate 1 pax at a time for the small face massage. Only counseling can be done at the same time with your friends.
